SYDNEY BLUEGRASS & OLD-TIME MUSIC turns 50

Ron and Judy Jones started a Blue Grass Club, with Phil Moore, at Sydney University in 1975. The club first me in Tin Sheds at the University, then at Balmain, before finding a home at Annandale 40 Years ago. The Annandale Neighbourhood Centre as it was then known had a Management Committee. They used the upstairs hall but climbing the stairs became difficult for those who attended. Jam sessions from 6.30 filled the front building(under renovation in 2025 - which meant the Jam sessions took place in the backyard on the chilly winter night of July 7) while the back building is for the concert at 7.30.

What is Music without someone on Desk and Microphones.

Program and setting Up

Program, MC, News, Setup and Packup stage (for performers) and chairs (for audience - made up mostly of performers waiting for their turn and this is their "green room".

50th Birthday Concert

Performers included "Safety in Numbers", "Sawers", Alex and a daughter on vocals, filling in as well as groups from Bangowlah (on the Northern Beaches of Sydney) and Bulli in the Illawarra. Bluegrass Started mid 1950s in US. But there was the tale of the mail-train driver and song.
