1.2 Aims of Plan
(1) This Plan aims to make local environmental planning provisions for land in the City of Sydney in accordance with the relevant standard environmental planning instrument under section 33A of the Act.
(2) The particular aims of this Plan are as follows:
(a) to accommodate a diverse and growing population by providing for a range of housing needs,
(b) to provide employment and services to enhance the economic development and amenity of the local area without detracting from the viability of existing nearby centres,
(c) to enhance amenity and quality of life of the local community,
(d) to promote ecologically sustainable development,
(e) to ensure that land uses and density are integrated with nearby transport infrastructure and encourage travel by public transport, walking and cycling,
(f) to achieve a high quality urban form by ensuring that new development exhibits design excellence and responds to the character of the local area,
(g) to conserve the environmental heritage of the land to which this Plan applies,
(h) to protect, and to enhance the enjoyment of, the natural environment of the City of Sydney and its recreation areas....
