Accessibility and Interoperability

Accessibility and Interoperability are critical to effective e-governance.

The adoption and strict adherence to HTML and other open standards, provides a sound basis to achieve Interoperability. Support multiple communication channels including e-mail, RSS Feed as well as aggregation and social media, to alert and engage stakeholders.

Information needs to be structured and presented so that it is accessible - electronically and should not need to be printed, should be searchable and of a reasonable file size or broken up into reasonable files.

Security

Confidentiality, Privacy and Integrity are also issues in E-Governance as information is easily and widely disseminated using Email and secure webistes. Information may inadvertently enter the public domain, be listed on webpages and indexed by search engines or be more actively compromised by malicious attacks. People with access to information need to be aware about its sensitivity but also about the benefits of releasing, and reducing the burden of managing the protection information when appropriate.
